Terms & Conditions
Please read the booking conditions carefully as they form the basis of your contract with Footprint Walks.
To secure a booking we require a completed and signed booking form and a $300 non-refundable deposit. The booking is accepted only when a booking confirmation is issued by Footprint Walks. At this point a contract is initiated between the client and Footprint Walks. We reserve the right to decline any booking.
The balance is required 60 days in advance of the walk start date.
Failure to make the final payment by the due date will result in the cancellation of your booking and the loss of the deposit. Once final payment is received all prices will be guaranteed.
Any incidentals ( mini bar, nibbles etc.) incurred by our clients at any of the accommodation providers must be paid for by the client at checkout. If not we will charge them onto the credit card provided when booking.
Cancellations – by you
If you or any other person included on the Booking Form wishes to cancel their booking, the cancellation will be effective from the AUSTRALIAN working day (normally Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays) on which we receive your written notification by email, mail or fax. The following cancellation charges will apply: Unless it is due to Government regulations with COVID 19 restrictions where all monies will be refunded.
- 60 days or more: deposit only
- 59-31 days prior to departure: 30% of the total tour price
- 30-15 days prior to departure: 50% of total tour price
- 14 days prior to departure: 100% of the total tour price
We advise you to take out insurance against irrecoverable cancellation costs.
If any member(s) of your party is/are prevented from travelling, the person(s) concerned will be able to transfer their place to someone else (introduced by you) providing the following requirements are complied with. We must be notified of the transfer(s) in writing (giving full details of the original and substitute party member(s)) not less than two weeks before departure. A transfer will not be possible if there is a waiting list for places in which case the available place must be offered to the next person on that list. Where a transfer to a person of your choice can be made, all costs and charges incurred by us and/or incurred or imposed by any of our suppliers as a result together with an amendment fee of GBP35 / USD45 / CAD60 / AUD65 / EUR40 per person, per element must be paid before the transfer can be effected.
Cancellations – by us
We reserve the absolute right to make changes to the itinerary of any tour that might, for example, enable us to take advantage of any opportunities that may arise, or changes that may be required due to the cancellation of scheduled transport services, changing political situations, weather conditions, natural disasters, sickness etc. Such decisions would be made at the discretion of the Company . However, every effort will be made to include all the features of the tour originally proposed in the brochure or what we consider to be similar alternatives. The cost of any services not used will not be refunded. Your agreement to our booking conditions indicates that you accept the need to adapt to itineraries when deemed necessary by the Company.
Cancellations – due to COVID 19
Additional to our cancellation policy any cancellation due to the inability to travel because of Government Health warnings for COVID-19 will be 100% refunded by Footprint Walks.
Our prices for each walk are based on two people sharing. A single traveller must pay an additional $500 per booking to ensure a single room. That privacy will be honoured for the entire trip.
Passports, Visas and Vaccinations
It is the responsibility of the Client to be in possession of a valid passport, visa permits, inoculations and preventative medicines as may be required for the duration of the tour. Information about these matters or related items is given in good faith but without responsibility on the part of Footprint Walks.
It is a condition of travel that you are covered by comprehensive travel insurance. If you are arranging your own insurance, you must provide to us no later than 30 days prior to commencement of travel ,a copy of your travel insurance policy (or details of master policy) the emergency telephone number of your insurance company, next of kin and emergency contact.
Age, Fitness and Participation
While our tours do not require a special level of fitness, all people participating in the walks must possess a reasonable level of mobility, including the ability to:
- Negotiate airports and railway stations without wheelchair assistance
- Use combined shower/bath facilities (it is impossible to guarantee walk-in shower facilities)
- Undertake walking of 4-5 hours duration, including using stairs, walking in the sand, gravel paths and other uneven surfaces
- If you have any doubts about your ability to participate in your chosen tour, you may be required to have a doctor’s appraisal. This would require a doctor to read the itinerary of your chosen tour and provide you with a written confirmation of your ability to participate.
All participants of tours operated by the Footprintwalks are expected to obey the laws and regulations of the countries visited and any failure to do so will relieve us of all obligations that they may otherwise have under these booking conditions.
Illness or Disability
Anyone suffering from illness or disability or undergoing treatment for any physical or medical condition must declare the true nature of such condition at the time of booking and make arrangements for the provision of any medication or other treatment which may be required during the tour. Failure to make such disclosure will constitute a breach of these booking conditions and result in such persons being excluded from the tour in which case all monies paid will be forfeit.
If You Have a Complaint
If the Client has a complaint about any of the tour arrangements the Client must bring it to the attention of the on call manager or other representative of Footprint Walks at the time so that they may use their best endeavours to rectify the situation. It is only if and when we are made aware of any problems that there will be the opportunity to put things right. Any complaints must be made in writing to Footprint Walks within 28 days of the completion of the tour.
We will accept responsibility if any death, personal injury, failure or deficiency of your holiday arrangements is caused by negligence or omissions by us, or our agents or suppliers. We will not be responsible for any injury, illness, death, loss, damage, expense, cost or any other sum or claim of any description whatsoever which results from the fault of the person(s) affected or any member(s) of their party or results from uneven or circumstances which we or the supplier of the service(s) in question could not have predicted or avoided even after taking all reasonable care. We cannot accept any responsibilities for any services not forming part of our contract, e.g. additional services or facilities which your hotel or any other supplier agrees to provide for you where the services or facilities are not advertised in our brochure and we have not agreed to arrange them. The maximum liability for any damages other than personal injury or illness will be limited to the cost of the holiday.
It is your responsibility to be physically fit, suitably equipped and experienced enough for your chosen holiday. You must be aware of the risks involved in undertaking the walking holiday. You must accept sole responsibility for your personal safety. You must also undertake to follow advice given in the guide book/tour notes and follow any warnings/advisory notices during your walk, follow the Country Code.
